Eco Friendly Nappies

Posted by Bunny at January 28. 2008

I am expecting my first baby in May but havent decided what 2 do about nappies yet? Any suggestions, all you eco-friendly parents? ;) Dont know if I can face the idea of cloth nappies but I would like 2 do the right thing!

Highly recommend reusable nappies. They are very different to our parents generation so don't worry! Try attending a nappucino event before your baby is born. There's one happening on Satruday, 16 February 08 at the Dublin Airport Bewleys Hotel at 12 noon. They have nappy advisors to do demos. Or have a look at http://www.ecologikids.com for dates and info on nappy events.

You can also get eco friendly disposal nappies like Moltex. They do them in Superquinn and Tesco and also online but I'm not sure of the web address. Maybe just google them? They are biodegradable disposable nappies but they don't last for decades in landfill like normal nappies. Apparently they degrade in a few weeks. Have used them on my sons and had no problem. They were actually recommended to me as better than p*mpers for ezcema etc.

Try www.ecobaby.ie. They do Moltex and deliver them to your door.

If you want to be really environmentally friendly, go for the Moltex and compost them in your garden. Ecobaby has advice on how you can do it. Surprisingly simple. I used Moltex on my last two and found them more absorbent than "normal" nappies. Highly recommended.
